A beautiful
setting, sunny day & super entry to go over. I
could not have wished for more for my first CC
appointment in the breed. Warm weather can
always be a deciding factor in some cases,
especially where some dogs who do well earlier
in the day return to the challenge not looking
quite so refreshed. I was particularly impressed
by the number of top quality youngsters on show
which must augur well for the future.
PD
(7,3a)
The first class of the day & in many ways the
most difficult with a mixture of ages & types.
1 BPD, Poulson’s Brandoux Valentinoux at
Patchdown, 6 months fawn, very much a baby,
correct skull shape, good earset, broad chest,
well developed ribs. A little low to ground at
this stage. Stepped out well for one so young; 2
Drummond’s Glenlee Golden Eagle, 12 months fawn,
slightly leggier type, good head & expression,
typical topline with good roach. A shade hollow
through the loin. Positive mover, looked good
going around. Preferred substance of 1; 3
Fraser, Kaye & Bootle’s Harrowhill Sweet William
at Daitoff. JD (9,4) 1 RCC, Duce's
Risethor Bulletproof at Alfiam, 15 months dog of
excellent type, very much the specialist's cup
of tea, lovely large head, broad deep muzzle,
dark expressive eyes, lovely bat ears, excellent
width through the front, deep chest. A shade
less weight would improve his underline. Really
filled my eye while standing, seemed a bit
distracted on the move, very close up to the CC
winner whose more polished performance was
difficult to deny. A very promising young
stallion; 2 Greensmith's Ageancourt Ebony Moon
over Nachadbe, 13 months pied, very alert &
showy, excellent earset, good bone, compact
body. A little upright in front. Good feet, free
mover. Preferred angulation of 1; 3 Burton's
Morvern Frank avec Labanjo. PGD (4) 1
Howell & Barker's Skybull Philip Auguste,
masculine dog, nice large head, good body shape,
plenty of bone & substance, good roach. Looked
like he was feeling the heat in the challenge.
Quite a good earset when he felt like using his
ears, movement OK; 2 Phillips' Fatboy Bouncer,
18 months, very good size & type, typical head &
expression, good earset, clean bone. Tended to
pace a bit on the move at times. Very showy &
alert. Preferred topline of 1 which had a shade
more roach; 3 Bryant's Risethor Tiger Tiger.
LD (11,2) 1 CC, Greensmith's Gizyjo
Remmisson with Nachadbe, very showy & alert
pied, in many ways a moderate dog, nothing
overdone, pleasing expression with good skull
shape, very good earset, wide muzzle, good
straight forelegs, enough roach, tail of good
length, never stood wrong, moved with aplomb &
plenty of Frenchie character, in the challenge
while others were feeling the heat his halo just
got brighter & brighter as though he knew today
was his day; 2 Haines' D'Accord Rene Lacoste at
Castlehaines, 16 months import, very good stamp
& size, typical skull shape & bat ears, good
ribbing, nice roach. Looked a shade immature in
this company. Positive mover, stepped out well.
Preferred angulation of 1; 3 Cund's Sarabar
Dutch Gold at Glenlee. OD (5,1) 1
Friend's Multi Ch Wham v Fivelzight, masculine
import, slightly longer cast, quite a stallion,
lovely large head, wide deep muzzle, good bone,
deep chest. Would prefer body to have slightly
more shape. Tail of good length, used himself
quite well on the move; 2 Drummond's Sarabar
Continental Affair at Glenlee, fawn of good
size, shape & type, good skull shape, super
earset, clean bone, compact body. Preferred
substance of 1; 3 Swateridge's Ch Birique
Xentique.
PB
(11,1) 1
BP Drummond's Glenlee Indian Charm, 12 months
fawn, very appealing youngster, feminine
expression, dark eyes, nice body shape, clean
bone, very attractive way of going, really
compact & together, sound mover; 2 Furneaux &
Mullan's Dajan Eternity, 11 months, very typical
bitch, attractive head & expression, good earset,
clean bone, depth of chest good for age, nice
roach, stepped out well, very close up to 1; 3
Fitzgerald & Smith's Frabull Miss Ethel Merman
at Mockerlody. JB (11,1) The class of the
day. Lovely to have so many beauties to choose
from. 1 CC & BOB, Chapman & Conway's Norcairn
Dark Angel, 16 months bitch, outstanding type &
quality, so very good to go over, very
eyecatching & feminine, super head & expression,
lovely bat ears, wide muzzle of good depth,
excellent width through the front, deep chest,
good arch to neck, scored highly in outline with
her very typical gentle roach & super forehand &
quarters, firm muscletone, on the move she is so
sound & all of a piece, living proof that type &
soundness need not be mutually exclusive in this
breed, should go far; 2 RCC, Beale's Kargrays
Diamond Dazzler, 16 months, feminine bitch of
very good type & balance, attractive head &
expression, good bat ears. Could have a shade
more substance. Very good forehand & quarters,
typical gentle roach, sound mover. Not quite as
firm in muscle as 1. Came into the challenge
from the shade looking more refreshed than most
& rather cheekily ran off with the RCC; 3
Drummond's Glenlee Spirit Dancer. PGB
(6,2) 1 Beale's Kagabea Dream Crystal, 16
months, litter sister to Diamond Dazzler & many
of the same comments apply, good head, well
balanced body, typical roach, clean bone. Could
be slightly more feminine & has a rather large
calf lick on her back which is no real fault but
makes her coat look coarser than it is. Stepped
out well, quite sound; 2 Hammond's Living Next
Door To Alice, 17 months, smaller type, did not
co-operate on the table although this was
naughtiness rather than shyness, quite happy to
be handled on the ground, feminine bitch, good
size & type, good earset, shapely quarters.
Topline tended to slope away a little. Movement
OK. Preferred width & strength of muzzle of 1; 3
Bonsall's Muggshotts Pansy Potter. LB
(10,3) 1 Livy's Bremars Pocahontas at
Britroys, stylish bitch, attractive head with
good skull shape, super earset, deep chest, good
bone, shapely body. Tended to pace a bit on the
move at times but eventually got into her
stride. Quite sound & feminine; 2 Partridge's
Hayley v Marver's Fortuna for Abbeymill,
imported fawn, lovely feminine head &
expression, super dark eyes, wide muzzle. Could
cover slightly more ground on the move. Compact
body, good ribcage, gentle roach, ideal for size
& stamp. Preferred hind movement of 1; 3 Moye &
Bootle's Acirema Fleurette Tommyville. OB
(6,1) 1 Rawsthorne's Ch Risethor Sunset Bull
Avarde, compact bitch of very good size & type,
scored highly in head as her set of nose & width
& depth of muzzle were very good, lovely
feminine expression, good bat ears. Stood a
little low to ground. Positive mover, gentle
roach, a quality bitch; 2 Wildman's Ch Wildax
Miss Moneypenny, consummate showgirl, very good
size & stamp, incredibly alert & showy, super
earset. Tended to stand with her hindlegs too
far back which made her topline slope away.
Looked lovely going around, super ribbing,
compact body. Preferred head & expression of 1;
3 Cook's Redmist Crystal Maze via
Nkunde.
