The French Bulldog Club of England would like to thank everyone for attending and making the weekend an extra special extravaganza, We have received so much positive feedback but equally would welcome suggestions that could be useful for future events

         SUPREME TROPHY AWARDS GALA 2017
            EVENT RESULTS & PHOTOS

The French Bulldog Club of England celebrated its 115th Anniversary in style by staging a ‘French Bulldog Extravaganza’, and with over 330 entries competing during the weekend’s festivities, this was without doubt the highlight of the French Bulldog Calendar this year. The Club produced a fabulous Souvenir Brochure of the event containing all the information about the exhibits, the trophies and the timetable for the day, full of pictures and certainly a great keepsake. We must thank our generous sponsors for helping the FBCE to make this event so spectacular. The weekend celebrations commenced with the first ever ‘Charity Showcase’ for Veteran, Special Pairs and Teams judged by breed specialist Rob McDonald. This was an opportunity for the show community to give something back to the breed by supporting its registered charities. All entry fees were added to the money raised from the grand auction and the sale of the fabulous unique table decorations used during the evening banquet. Rosettes, prize money and gifts were also generously donated. The grand total raised which was over £1300 will be divided between the four French Bulldog rescue charities. From our judge Rob McDonald “It was a great honour to be asked to judge the first charity showcase event at this wonderful Gala. The welcome that I, and my good friend Angela Mitchell, received was second to none. The hall for the event had been dressed by the Committee and looked stunning. The Trophies, many that I had not seen for years, looked superb on the President’s Table. The work that the Officers and Committee (and their partners) had to do must have been tremendous. To achieve such a high standard of organisational excellence is to be applauded. The whole event was superb - and I enjoyed myself more than I ever have done - in all of my years of being a member of the Club. Congratulations to you all - and many, many thanks for such a spectacular, friendly, sporting and efficiently-run Weekend. THANK YOU to everyone who participated in this event, all of the proceeds go to the four French Bulldog Rescue Societies’ funds. I spoke to a volunteer on the day, belonging to the French Bulldog Saviours, who told me that at least one French Bulldog is in need of rescue by them daily. Please dig deep and send what you can to any of these societies; they are all urgently in need of funds - and reliable volunteers.

In the afternoon the main event S.T.A.G - ‘The Supreme Trophy Award Gala’ began with the first rounds of judging for Special Puppy, Special Junior and Special Open classes. The exhibits that had been invited to compete were the Frenchies who had accumulated the highest points during the year at Championship shows. The three judges were all carefully chosen breed specialists, from the UK came Jill De’ath ( Iverfrenchie) who has not been active in the breed for a while but still had a huge interest , from Spain FCI judge Elena Sanchez Darias and her husband the world renown breeder Alfonso Emilio Ferrer Tavio ( El Mencey Loco ). The excitement running around the packed ringside was almost tangible as the Frenchies competed in the knockout rounds. There were gifts and rosettes for all exhibitors, no one left the ring empty handed and the most super prizes, rosettes and prize money for the individual Trophy Winners. The winner of the Supreme Trophy Award (STAG) received prizes worth over £1,000.00.

The Supreme Trophy for Best in Show- Winner of S.T.A.G 2017 -The Silver Cup with Horns:
Katakia One And Only JW Owner/ breeder Ms Angela Pleasance
From Our Judges;Jill De’ath “Thanks must go to the STAG committee who had obviously worked very hard for a long time organizing the Gala. The attention to detail was superb and all the special prizes and gift bags for each exhibitor were very much appreciated. It had been a while since I last judged this delightful breed and I was very pleased to see how much improvement has been made regarding health issues, movement and overall breed type. It was a joy to see some exhibits displaying their wonderful clown like characteristics. Alfonso Ferrer Tavío & Elena Sánchez Darias “Everything concerning this event was of the highest quality up to the last detail. A wide ring decorated very well, good arrangement for the exhibitors, beautiful prizes, the junior assistants, the ring stewards and a great compere. The whole event was refined, respectful and festive. The quality of the dogs was high. We must recognize that quality has improved since we last visited the UK and it becomes obvious, especially in the quality of the females. We respect very much the work of the breeders / handlers both in their breeding selection and in the show world. We must also comment on the excellent handling of the Frenchies in the ring The work of the French Bulldog Club of England in the parameters of health, is giving excellent results.....the vast majority of the dogs were excellent healthy examples. During the Gala dinner, the environment was jovial and happy and everyone was waiting in anticipation to see which Frenchie would be chosen as the Supreme Winner ,the winner of the STAG 2017. It was our pleasure to join with our co judge Mrs Jill De’ath to make the final choice. The six finalists all had enormous potential and the final decision was not easy which eventually was for the pied female winner of the Challenge Cup for Special Open Bitch; Katakia One And Only....Our congratulation’s to the winner and breeder of this beautiful bitch Ms Angela Pleasance. Our recognition again for the whole STAG TEAM: Ben Hines, Rhonda Ashard Foxon, Lucy Bonsall, Richie Cairns, Charlotte Swateridge and President Ms Penny Rankine-Parsons ,for their excellent efforts and hard work before, during and after the event......BRAVO!!!
The Supreme Trophy Awards Gala included "The People Choice Awards" where categories, nominations and finally winners were voted for via the STAG Facebook page. The categories included awards for "Biggest Clown" Won by Vanessa Bryant's late Archie, "Dedication to the breed" won by Lucy Bonsall "Unsung Hero" won by Richie Cairns "Newcomer" won by Lola Bonsall "Personality" won by Charlotte Swateridge The event was finished off with great entertainment provided by the Glamophones and there was much hilarity, great conversation, socialising, dancing and imbibing of alcohol until the early hours and then off to bed ready for the Championship on Sunday
Thank you to everyone that allowed us to use their photos and please enjoy of more of our daytime and evening event, accompanied by music from our girls The Glamophones doing their twist on "Walk Like An Egyptian"
